I believe that planning is more than entering information in boxes, completing checklists and handing over printouts. It is catered, specific and addresses the needs, dreams and goals identified. There is no “one size fits all” solution. I also believe it is important to have discussions in every stage of the process: whether creation/accumulation, liquidation/realization or sustaining/legacy management.

Yes, adding depth and value to planning by assisting with tax complications and strategies, but also with non-tax aspects as well. Sometimes simply thinking outside the box to creatively come up with solutions to resolve disputes or issues that arise is what is required. I have often been the bridge between generations, spouses, or negotiating business partners. Providing the role of a sounding board can sometimes be the value add that is most needed and appreciated.
